Can I give my dog aspirin for a sprain if she's on prednisone?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Staffordshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 6 years and 10 months old | 54 lbs

Wanted to know if it is safe to give Vega bayer aspirin from sprain shoulder. She is also on furosemide 20mg, and prednisone 10 mg both once a day for her breathing due to heart worms, which she is NEGATIVE for heart worms. Wanted to make sure Bayer was ok. She is about 70 pounds

Hello, Because Vega is receiving prednisone, I would recommend that you avoid administration of aspirin. Combining the two medications could result in a stomach or intestinal ulcer. Follow up with your veterinarian to discuss alternative pain medications such as gabapentin or tramadol.
