Why is my puppy so wild, biting, and ignoring me? Is it normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Schnauzer | Male | 2 months and 27 days old | 8 lbs

My miniature schnauzer puppy who is going to be 3 months in a few days, has spells of going completely wild and biting everything in sight, running, barking/growling, and we can’t seem to even get his attention when he’s like this! We’ve tried everything! Is this teething behavior or something more?

This is normal puppy behavior. I would increase the exercise outside and leave him alone when he’s doing this. You don’t want to encourage biting or not listening so just let him run around and make sure he has his own toys available when he does this. He’s burning up excess energy and will outgrow this phase in a few months. Again take him for lots of walks and play with him in the yard until he’s tired and you will see less of this behavior.
