My 13 year old cat has been vomittkng hairballs and food on and off for a year. Days he's great then puking, not eattingg for a day and then then eating again. He has fleas I put drops on him but still there he is self grooming a lot he is medium fur I also think he has lost weight I checked stool for any visible worms and saw nothing. His poop also can be normal and also very soft and runny

Poor Smokey! If he has had fleas, it is likely he has also contracted worms, especially tapeworms and i recommend treating for these also. I would also consider converting him slowly to royal canin fibre response food which can help in the management of diarrhea, bowel upsets and furballs
