Hello. Albumin is a serum protein that affects osmotic pressure, binds calcium, & transports fatty acids & many drugs. Starvation, parasitism, chronic malabsorptive disease, chronic liver disease, exudative enteritis, & glomerulonephritis decrease serum albumin levels. Just looking at the albumin levels, this is a lower than normal value, but you must also look at globulin levels & what else is going on with your dog at the same time. I value out of place is neither diagnostic or predictive of something happening. If your dog is in any distress, please seek emergency care, but if Tibet is acting normal, eating & drinking well, do not worry about 1 out of place value. You can wait until Monday to discuss this blood work further. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
