Pet's info: Dog | Border Collie | Female | spayed | 11 months and 2 days old | 30 lbs
Hi, I have a 11 month old bordercollie cross husky. She started having trouble walking on her front legs this morning. I checked her nails, paws, webs and joints and can’t find anything wrong. Could it be osteochondritis dissecans? Or something else?

Poor Gemma! It sounds like she is uncomfortable on her front legs. She could be dealing with any number of issues-I would recommend a visit to your regular veterinarian for a checkup. They can do a thorough physical exam to look for any problems, and may recommend X-rays to check for things like fractures, panosteitis or HOD. Elbow dysplasia can also present in young larger breed dogs. Good luck-I hope Gemma feels better soon!

I would call your veterinarian tomorrow morning. Especially being a puppy they can jump or run and hurt their legs and it may just be a soft tissue injury. If Remi is limping it is best to get her some anti-inflammatories for pain. Do not give anything over the counter since that can be toxic to her. I would let her rest until you can get her to the veterinarian. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
