Why is my cat eating after giving birth? Is she still in labor?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 7 months old | 10 lbs

My cat gave birth and she is eating almost immediately after. I'm not sure if she's still in labor though. Do cats eat while in labor?

Cats can sometimea eat while in labor, especially if they are not in active labor (not actively contracting/delivering). And Some cats will deliver kittens spread over a fairly long period (even 24 hours). So it is hard to know if Freya is done having kittens at this point. Good luck with all of your new additions. And let us know if more questions come up.
