Yorkie neutered: Are red dots on incision normal? He's jumping!

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | neutered | 6 months and 5 days old | 10 lbs

I was just wondering if my yorkie’s incision was healing properly. His name is moku & he got neutered on Wednesday 02/28/2018. I’m not sure if the red dots are internal bleeding, bruises or it’s just irritated. He has jumped on the bed three times already so he’s been staying in his crate. Also he has a cone on & when he tries to bite his tail, he hits his incision.

From the pictures, it appears like the incision is healing well. The red dots are likely a little irritation/bruising from clipping the area and/or the surgical instruments. I would Keep a close eye on the area and if the redness is worsening call his veterinarian. It is important to continue keeping him quiet for the next week and prevent him from licking the surgical site (using an e-collar/cone if necessary). I hope moku continues healing well!
