Pet's info: Dog | Bulldog | Female | spayed | 2 years and 10 months old | 65 lbs
I have a 2 1/2 year old Victorian Bulldog. I’ve noticed over the last few months she has intermittent weakness and pain in her hind legs. This occurs mostly in the left side. I have always thought she just gets sore from how she lays, but I’m beginning to think it could be something more serious. She is currently whining as if she’s in pain and she will not put her left hind leg on the ground. Is there anything I can give her? Should I look into taking her to the closest animal ER?

There are a number of orthopedic and neurological problems that can cause pain and weakness that we see in Bulldogs. I agree that having Winnie examined would be the best idea to make sure we know what we are dealing with and get her treated with an appropriate medication. I would not recommend treating her with any medication at home since they can have side effects and may interact with the pain medication that your vet may want to give her. I would recommend having her seen tonight to get her pain relief ASAP. Good luck! I hope that was helpful and that Winnie feels better soon. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
