My dog has a red rash on his scrotum. Is my home treatment working?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | unneutered | 85 lbs

I have a 3yr old male Akita/husky mix has a red rash with like a couple lil zits on the bottom of his nutsack. I have been cleaning it with peroxide / water mix than putting neosporin on it. It has cleared up but is slow going. He is still eating really good and checked his poop it seems to be good boo diareaha or vomiting. Am I doing right thing.

Rashes can be caused by bacterial or yeast skin infections, so the cause needs to be diagnosed in order to treat it correctly. I wouldn't use peroxide on it, as it actually damages tissues and can prevent tissue healing. It would be best for Atlas to see a vet tomorrow for this rash, and the vet can prescribe medications as needed.
