What's this recurring lump above my cat's eye with scabs?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 8 years and 11 months old | 12 lbs

My cat has swelling above his eye that's making it look bald almost. There's also little red scabs on the lumpy area. He's known for getting Mast Cell tumours so I'm worried it's another one. It popped up a week ago, went away for 2 days and came back.

I would definitely have this swelling on Colby checked out by a vet. While it could be another mast cell tumor, it could also be a cyst. It could have ruptured internally and then grew back. Cysts often reoccur, and they may need to be removed surgically to prevent that from happening. The vet can diagnose what is causing the swelling, and can discuss treatment options with you.
