My dog has Addison's & heart issues. Will he recover and be happy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 15 lbs

My dog is currently in the hospital due to an addisons Crisis because previous vet said he cant take meds until they determine if his heart can handle it, Since he has a minor enlarged heart and a heart mur mur. My question is he looks super depressed and will that change once the medication is given or will my buddy always be a sad dog? and emergency also told me he will only need oral meds no injection, is that correct? he is a mixed breed (chihuahua and maltese) and hes 4yrs old.

I'm sorry Bolt is having such a difficult time at the moment! He will be quite lethargic due to being so sick, and once he is stabilized and on medication, he should be feeling better and likely will return to his normal self. Yes, he can be treated will oral medications, but it will be up to the vet treating him to determine the best course of treatment. I certainly hope he feels better soon!
