My Husky's eye is bloody from a thorn. Does she need a vet now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | spayed | 0 lbs

Hi my huskey seems to have put her head in something with thorn or similar. Her right ear has bled but has now healed however her right eye has become covered in blood. There is nothing wring with the left eye. Being a Husky she is always on her lead so she has not been in a fight. Will it heal itself or shall I apply some ointment

It could be that Sky has a subconjunctival hemorrhage. While those do heal on their own, the eye has to be examined by a vet right away to make sure there isn't any damage to the rest of the eye. Because subconjunctivial hemorrhages can be caused by trauma, which you think may have happened here with thorns or something similar, her eye needs to be checked for any other signs of trauma. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it is considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would take Sky into a vet now to have her eye examined and treated if necessary.
