You need to take Hope into a vet right away. In a senior dog, seizures can be caused by liver disease, kidney failure, low or high blood sugar, or cancer such as tumors of the brain. Unfortunately, the swelling on her belly could indicate mammary tumors, which can be common in unspayed dogs. Mammary tumors have a 50% chance of being malignant. The vet can do a physical exam, geriatric blood panel, urinalysis, and possibly x-rays to diagnose what is causing her symptoms. The vet will also examine the swellings in her abdomen, and diagnose if she does have mammary tumors and if they are malignant or not. If Hope seizures again before you can seek vet care: - Don't put your hands near her mouth - Keep some rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle to spray on the pads of the feet for cooling - Monitor her at all times during the seizure to ensure that she cannot hurt herself by crashing into furniture, etc - If the seizure continues for more than 5 minutes, seek emergency care immediately
