My dog cut her paw, licking and limping. Why chattering teeth?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 3 years and 2 months old | 35 lbs

My dog has a laceration between her "pinky" and next to toes on her back foot that got about a day and a half ago. She has been licking it and limping as you would expect but she has started chattering her teeth after she licks her paw. Is this something I need to seek immediate medical attention for or should she be ok?

I definitely would have Lola seen by a vet for this, but if it isn't deep or long, it can wait until the morning. Right now, the most important thing is to stop her from licking at it, as that will introduce infection into the wound. You can make one at home, and I can give you a link to a website that will show you how to make one. Have her seen by a vet tomorrow morning for this. http://dogsaholic.com/care/homemade-dog-cone.html
