My new pitbull is gagging up white foam. Is it her food? What to do?

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | 2 years old | 60 lbs

I just adopted a pitbull from the Oregon humane society. She has no history except she is two. She has been throwing up (more like gagging up) white substance a lot this morning what should I do? Is it because her food?.

It could be caused by her food, especially if you recently changed the diet. It could also be caused by an infection, parasite, obstruction, gastritis/enteritis, pancreatitis, metabolic/endocrine disease, etc. If she is otherwise acting completely normal, you could withhold food for the day and then try a bland diet, like chicken breast and white rice. If the vomiting continues or she becomes lethargic than she needs to be seen by your vet to determine the cause and treat the problem. Your vet can run lab-work and take an x-ray, if needed, to help diagnose and then prescribe medications. She may need an anti-vomiting medication, antacid, and/or an gastrointestinal protectant to help treat.
