My mini pig was neutered, but vet couldn't find his testicles. Why?

Hello, My pet mini pig (Scout) just got back from a neutering operation today. The vet who did his operation said that he could not find Scout's testicles. He is 5 months old and going on 40 pounds. Every where I read states that he should be applicable for this operation and has been for quite a while. Why would this be?

In some cases, the testicles fail to descend properly and get stuck in the abdomen. This condition is referred to cryptorchidism. It does put Scout at higher risk for testicular cancer so he needs to have them removed.
