Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 12 years and 5 months old
My old cat has a swollen and hard belly,it's not very visible just when he's standing up you can see on each side half a balloon,at first i though he was just getting.he acts and eats normally and he doesn't mind when i touch his belly. i noticed that it's less swollen and hard in the morning when he wakes up.he eats a lot of raw things, dairy products, cat food...his alimentation is not balanced, and he's not dewormed so could it be because of worms? what other symptoms should i watch for? Thank's

Given Patxi's diet and the fact that he is not dewormed, it's entirely possibly that his swollen belly is due to worms. Given that he is a senior cat, it could also be something more serious such as a tumor. I would have Paxti to seen by a vet today or tomorrow for this, and bring along a sample of his feces for the vet the to examine for worms. The vet may also due x-rays in addition to a physical exam, blood test, and a urinalysis to diagnose what is causing his swollen belly and can discuss treatment options with you.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Pops. You did the right thing by having him seen by a vet today for this. Depending on his age, this could be something serious like a tumor causing the swollen abdomen. Sometimes certain types of cancer are not detected with blood work. If this swollen abdomen does not subside, I would take him back into the vet for an abdominal x-rays and ultrasound. Best of luck.
