My dog has pink, dime-sized bumps under skin. Is it worms or allergy?

My dog has placed just under her skin in various areas that are almost like dime sized discs. They come and go, and the one that is close to her belly is pinkish/red. She battled roundworms a few times, our other dog has not. Is this worms or something?

Yes your description could be eventually compatible with ringworm recurrent infection. The other option is an allergic reaction in my opinion. I would consider to have her checked by your veterinarian and tested /and treated) for ringworm.

Hi, it does not look like a typical ringworm lesion. I would keep an eye on it, it should just gradually become less pink and skin should go back to normal within 1 week. Hope this helps ! Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

Some type of worms or infection on my dog's skin I don't know what exactly it is.
This appears to be hives in your pets skin due to an allergic reaction to something he either ate or came into contact with. I would recommend taking Broodie in to your vet for medicaitons to stop this reaction and then investigate what could have possibly triggered this so that it is avoided in the future. This is not a worm and an infection is unlikely, but your vet will look at the skin underneath the haircoat to make sure this isn't present as well. Best wishes and take care.

My 8 month old shepherd has pink bumps on her belly and private area. She doesn't have fleas and its no where else on her body. What could it be?
Pink bumps on the belly and groin area are most often a sign of a bacterial skin infection called pyoderma - this can occur on its own, or due to an underlying skin condition like allergies, fleas, or skin mites (mange). If the bumps aren't bothering her much and are confined to a fairly small area, you can try using a topical antibiotic spray on the area to see if this helps. If there is no improvement in the next 7-10 days, or if the bumps become itchy or painful or seem to be spreading, it would be best to take her to the vet for an exam, as she may need oral antibiotics or other prescription medication to treat the problem effectively.

This is probably due to an allergy, although it could also be infection or mites. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat with a high quality flea treatment (advocate or advantage), then ask the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try to discover the cause of the allergy. Three main type of allergies are usually affecting pets: food allergies, flea and parasite related ones and environmental type (allergens coming from trees, pollens, dust etc etc). Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair any possible skin lesions (like steroids and antibiotics). My corgi is 1.5 years old. This morning I noticed what looks like white head pimples on his belly. I read that dog pimples usually start at around 8 months - is he too old for pimples? Should I be worried about ringworm as a cause instead?
It is unlikely ringworm. White pustules are more consistent with a skin infection or pyoderma. Typically, a skin infection occurs secondary to allergies. Follow up with your veterinarian to discuss treatment options.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is possibly due to allergies. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing his allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. A secondary infection is likely and also needs to be addressed. There are medications such as Apoquel or prednisone which may help with the itch. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein and new carbohydrate). I

Hi and thanks for your request. These are epidermal collarettes.; they are 'footprints' of a vesicular or pustular lesion. They are therefore a common lesion type in canine pyoderma, which is a type of superficial skin infection. An allergy could be present, but the signs are solely compatible with an infection. Disinfection can be provided with hibiscrub diluted with water 1:10 twice daily. Make sure to rinse off the solution and leave the skin dry. The signs should resolve in the next 4-5 days, if not a check up will be needed.

That doesn't appear to be ringworm. It could be a bacterial skin infection. Given that he has allergies, this makes bacterial infection more likely. You would need to have this confirmed by your veterinarian. Treatment may be systemic antibiotics, topical treatment or a combination of both. Getting the allergies under control would probably help as well. Discuss allergy testing, hydrolyzed diets, food elimination trials and antihistamine use with your vet.

My dog has these red 3 circles with bumps. Shes acting normal.
It’s hard to tell what those are from the photos. They could be a bacterial infection, a wart, a skin tumor or ringworm (which humans can get). Monitor them very closely for changes, irritation or itchiness as this could be a sign of pathology. The safest option is to have these lesions examined by the veterinarian. If the doctor is concerned with a skin tumor/cancer, they will recommend testing. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.
