Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 10 years and 9 months old | 21 lbs

My dog had her teeth cleaned/pulled on Tuesday and was doing well initially however on Thursday she developed rapid breathing (60+/min) and shakes. I took her to the vet and they said she was in pain, no infection. Added pain med and gave nausea med. She was better for 12 hours and now again no appetite wont drink, rapid breathing and shakes. I have been up on pain meds but now her breath smells a lil like urine.. No N/V/D, is voidng. please help..

Poor Tiger! It's possible that her symptoms are pain-related, but since she hasn't responded well to pain meds and her breath smells a bit like urine, I would be concerned that she may have a serious problem such as liver or kidney failure - this can occasionally happen after general anesthesia or sedo, especially in older dogs. If your vet did not check blood work on Thursday, I would definitely recommend having this done as soon as possible. It's important to find out for sure what's going on so that she can be treated appropriately.
