How to stop my dog from escaping to play with neighbor's puppies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 2 months old | 70 lbs

I have a 2 year old boy lab. And some new people moved in a house next to us. They had a female with puppy's when they first came and he started to get out the yard. I thought it was because of the female but no he is attached to the puppys. Now the first puppy is his bff but now she has more puppys and he will not stop get out to play with the puppys. How do I stop this?

Sounds like Shadow wants a playmate! Perhaps you could consider getting another dog so that Shadow has a friend at your house. If that is not an option, perhaps taking Shadow to the dog park or enrolling him in doggie day care could get him the company he craves.
