Someone help! My older cat is basically now a stray, because we got a new cat. I wanted a new friend for my older one. The new cat had kittens and my older cat just as iCarly stopped coming in the house and no we see him once in a while outside. We caught him one time and brought him back in and he freaked out (growling and hissing and trying to claw). What can I do to bring him back?! Our young cat is grown now and she's fixed. I'm afraid our older cat hates us forever and will never come back

I'm sorry you are having such problems with your cat! Bringing a new cat home can be stressful for him, and that would be why he's reacting to poorly. To Ginger, there are now intruders in his home, but I can give you a method that may help improve things in your home. I would separate the cats, and slowly reintroduce them to each other. Take Ginger, and put him in his own room with his own food, water, and litter box. Keep the door closed, and for a few days, feed them both treats on other side of door so they associate each other's smell with a good experience. Then let the other cat in Ginger's room while he is in a cat carrier. They can smell each other, but not be in contact. If either becomes upset or show signs of aggression, remove the second cat from the room, and try again later. Praise them when they interact appropriately. When they are interacting well with each other through the carrier, you can let Ginger out of his room, and see how he interacts with the other cat. Praise them when they interact appropriately, and separate them with any sign of aggression or upset. I would get a cat tree with lots of shelves to give the cats vertical space to get away from each other. I would keep Ginger in his room when you go out until they are comfortable with each other.
