Why does my dog dribble pee after walks? Is it a UTI or marking?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 1 year and 6 months old | 56 lbs

After my dog pees, he'll go about his business and then will sometimes try to go about but just dribble. It's usually on longer walks or running around. Is this indicative of a UTI or would he display more symptoms? He is a 1.5 yr old boxer pit mix.

Some dogs will attempt to mark everything even when they don't have anything to void. If Jeter is not straining, I suspect he is just marking his territory. However, I would watch him and look at his urine color. If you notice straining (usually progressively becomes worth) or discolored urine (red or brown), he very could have a urinary tract infection or bladder stones. So monitor him and follow up with your veterinarian if you notice any symptoms.
