Can I give my cat probiotics for watery eyes without consulting a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 10 months old | 10 lbs

Is it ok for me to start my cat on a probiotic without consulting a vet? I had my cat on a weaker active probiotic in a treat and it really stops the watering in his eyes. I just don't feel like needing to ask my vet because they might have a different perspective that I don't have! I ordered it online . The brand is DogGone Best! It is 1.25 billion live ingredients and enzymes! Powder form!

It's fine to give your cat a probiotic without asking your vet. People often given supplements to their pets without consulting their vet. The only concerning ones are vitamins, as too many vitamins can cause toxicity.
