My 1-year-old dog jumps and won't listen. How do I train him?

You could also get a training to come in just a couple of times to help pin point what is keeping him from listening. It sounds like he is young and probably has a lot of energy therefore, doesn’t want to listen and sit still. You can also try a calmin chew like composure or composure pro. Keep working on training everyday. I would try to take 10-20 minutes everyday to work on commands without any distractions. There, you can both work on the basics together under the supervision of a professional who can help guide you on techniques and get the two of you speaking the same language. Working with treat motivation, and working on the basics such as "look as me", "sit", "down", etc can help you get started with better listening as well.

I like to train with my dog and start in a group obedience class. That way Kobe learns to listen to you with other dogs around. Obedience training is fun and you'll both enjoy it. With proper training, enrichment, and patience on your part, Pilot should become a well-adjusted adult dog in time. Beginning obedience class at this early of an age might be a little frustrating, but I still think it is a great idea as long as the trainer is patient as well.
