Why is my lab puppy's hard head lump returning with a droopy eye?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | unspayed | 5 months old | 35 lbs

My 4 mth old lab has developed a hard (feels like bone) lump on its head. A few weeks ago took her to vet and he couldnt determine what it was. He took an xray and it looked milky> He gave her an antibiotic and pain pills as it was tender to touch. It cleared it up but yesterday noticed a lump coming back on the left top of her head and her left eye is bloodshot and droopy and she is not as active. She tries to avoid me touching her head as well. We have another appointment this afternoon.

Poor Nita! If it cleared up with the antibiotic it sounds like it is an infection. Your vet may need to prescribe an antibiotic again and treat for a longer period of time. Your vet may also need to get a culture or biopsy to determine the exact cause. Hope she gets better soon!
