Can my vaccinated 1-year-old dog still get parvo after exposure?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Male | unneutered | 1 year old | 13 lbs

I was wondering if my 1 year old maltipoo can still get parvo? He has all his parvo shots and will get his 1 year shot in June. My friend had a puppy that recently had parvo (Didn't have its puppy shots not one) and passed away. This happen 1 Month ago and he comes to my house sometimes. I was wondering if my dog is immune to it? Sorry if I'm over thinking it but I feel like parvo is everywhere?!

Although no vaccine can give complete guarantees in every patient, keeping Jax up to date with inoculations gives him the best protection possible. Contact with infected dogs and soiled areas should still be minimized, items can be disinfected with bleach solution
