My cat is sleeping more and clingy. Could gingivitis be the cause?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 4 years and 5 months old

My cat is sleeping more, and being more clingy. She is still eating and drinking with no issues. She also has no problems going to the bathroom, but i am still concerned about her. She also has gingivitis.

I'm sorry Jade isn't feeling well at the moment. Unfortunately, lethargy is a very common sign of many illnesses, such as systemic disease, infection, inflammation, and injury. Given that she is still eating and drinking with no issue, as long as having no problems using the litter box, I would monitor her for now. Should she still be lethargic in 24-48 hours, I would have her seen by a vet for a health check. I would also recommend having a dental cleaning, scaling, and polishing scheduled for her to treat her gingivitis.
