My cat has an eye infection. Can it cause a false FIV positive?

We have taken in a stray with a bad and long standing eye infection. He has tested positive for feline aids but I was wondering if the fact that he is battling with an infection could affect the test result. Is it worth re-testing if we eventually clear the eye infection? Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 6 years and 1 month old | 11 lbs

How lovely of you to take in Toby! No, this eye infection won't interfere with the results of the feline aids tests. That being said, false positives can occur, I would recommend re-testing with another test to confirm that he does have feline aids. I hope this helps!
