Dog's hind legs paralyzed. Is activated charcoal safe a week later?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 8 years and 8 months old | 69 lbs

I think my vet misdiagnosed my dogs sudden paralysis last week. She has the start of hip dysplasia but suddenly hind legs paralyzed. I'm wondering if it might be brohmethelin poisoning. Should I use activated charcoal just to be safe. Even if paralysis started a week ago?

No, I would not use activated charcoal on Neekie. It's not safe to use on dogs unless a specific toxicity has been diagnosed. In addition, even if it were brohmethelin poisoning, a week is too long for the activated charcoal to have any effect. If Neekie hasn't seen a vet since her hind legs were suddenly paralyzed, I would have her seen by a vet immediately for this.
