Why is my 2-month-old puppy lethargic with bloody diarrhea and thin?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 24 days old

My 2 month old puppy Tofu has been a bit lethargic, she had also lost her appetite accompanied with bloody, bright red, foul-smelling diarrhea which had been going on for about 3 days now and in that time she had gone considerably thin. Can you please give any possible diagnosis and treatments?

It's probably a gastrointestinal infection, it could be parvo virus infection as well. you must take her urgently to the vet for treatment, she will need antibiotics and some other meds to get better.

If Phoebe is two months old I recommend bringing her to a veterinarian. She may have parasites, a virus or it can be stress-related. My concern is she is so young she can quickly decline especially from dehydration. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
