Cat spayed today: bald spots, squinting eye. When can I feed her?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Wirehair | Female | spayed | 1 month and 11 days old | 9 lbs

My cat just got spayed today. She pregnant. Post surgery, there's 2 small bald spots on her face. What happened? I tried to call the vet back but they're closed. Also, she's just sitting in one spot. Her right eye looks tired, like squinting here and there and her left eye looks fine. Should I be concerned? I got her to look up at an object and it looked fine. Also, can I feed her right away? Instructions say "late night give 1/4 of food & water". But it's day time right now and she was SO hungr

Sometimes when cats wake up from surgery, they are very disoriented, and they can stumble around the cage. She could have accidentally hurt herself waking up from anesthesia. Without being there or seeing her in person, I can't say for certain, but I would give your vet a call to ask if they know why these bald spots have appeared. I would monitor her eye. Given that she is recovering from anesthesia, her behavior may be off. If she is still having problems with squinting in 48 hours, I would have her seen by a vet. It's better to wait until evening to feed her, as feeding her too soon after surgery and anesthesia may upset her stomach. I would follow the instructions from your vet.
