My cat keeps peeing red urine. Is it a recurring bladder infection?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 years and 11 months old | 14 lbs

My cat has a recurring bladder infection and is peeing in the house. The urine is orangey red. She visited a vet 4 weeks ago for this issue and they gave her an antibiotic and metcam for home. I still have more of the antiinflammatory ... should i give her that and give a wet food diet or will it not go away without the antibiotic?

Most urinary incidents in cats are non infectious, it's usually a bladder inflammation related to stress. having said that, the metacam alone cannot solve the problem, she will need a special urinary food as well as cystophan supplement to reduce the inflammation in the bladder.
