My weak hamster won't take medicine. How can I give it to him?

my hamster got swollen on his arm. the vet said maybe caused by parasites or cancer. the vet put some medicine on my hamster arm and now it doesnt swollen like before. after that the vet gave me some antibiotic and asked me to give potato once a day for one week. but, my hamster doesnt want to take the medicine. is it have any suggestion on how to give my hamster medicine? i have brought potato to see the vet 2 days ago and i still doesnt get to give potato medicine. he looked weak now :(

This depends on if the medicine is liquid or tablets. If liquid, you can either pour it over his food or squirt it directly into his mouth. If it is a tablet, crushing it into a fine powder and then sprinkling it over the food might work or you can mix it in with a snack such a peanut butter. Another option is to slip the pill into the side of his mouth and then gently hold his mouth closed until he swallows. If you feel uncertain about this, the staff at your vet's office can show you how to do this. Good luck! I hope Potato is feeling better soon.
