Dog won't rest after spay. What can I give her for pain and sleep?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 6 months and 24 days old

Piper refuses to settle down. She got spayed yesterday and all she wants to do is run and jump, she is obviously in pain but won't stop and we were not given anything from the vet. I have put a cone on her and put her in the play pen. Is there something I can give her to get her to sleep? I tried lavender oil, didn't help.

All sleeping meds are prescription only, this is something you will need to ask your vet to prescribe you. more importantly your vet should have discharged her with pain killers, you should give him a call and request pain killers for her.

She is probably in pain, i would recommend giving a call to your vet to make sure she is well covered with pain killers, if she is then you need to wait a little longer, she should be fine by tomorrow.
