My 9-week-old puppy is lethargic and shaking. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 2 months and 4 days old | 3.8 lbs

I have a boy, 9 week old Mini Schnauzer/Toy Poodle mix. We have had him for a week. When we first got him he was very energetic and playful but since yesterday his energy seems to have lessened. His head was bobbing around last night and today he was shaking some. He is not shaking now but still low energy. He has had his first road of shots and is do for his next in two weeks. We are neverous something may be wrong and want to know what steps we should take next.

Poor Olsen! It could be that he is feeling unwell, and I would monitor him for now as lethargy is a very general sign of illness. Make sure he is still eating and drinking normally, and using the bathroom normally. If he continues to be lethargic today, and/or stops eating and drinking and using the bathroom normally, I would have him seen by a vet for a health check.
