Puppy keeps falling and limping. When should I worry and see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Australian Shepherd | Male | unneutered

Twice this week my puppy has fallen and its resulted in an injured foot. He limps around for a few minutes including falling over his injured leg. Its normally better within about 10 minutes or so but there is still a hint of a limp, but he is playing and jumping as usual by this point. Both times it was the same leg. Should i take him to get looked at or will it heal on its own?

Since it seems better, you could monitor for a day or so and see if it completely resolves. It the limp persists than he should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. Your vet can take an x-ray, if needed, to help diagnose and then determine if treatment is needed.
