My cockatiel's eye is swollen and closed. What should I do now?

Hi i think my cockateil has conjunctivitis as his eye is very swollen and he can't even open his eye now. What should I do now.

The cause of the swelling could eventually originate from the conjunctiva but from other eye structures as well.Swelling per se' could be caused by a damage of the surface of the eye (corneal ulceration). Inflammations (from allergies or trauma) or infection are both possible. Immediate check up is absolutely needed at your local veterinarian. Antibiotics may be needed in case of an infection.
