How can I prevent my child from getting roundworms from our puppy?

New puppy has roundworm the vet said to give her a dose of sentinel and then in two weeks a dose of strongid. I am most concerned about my two yr old grandson what are the chances he could get them? Should we call the pediatrician? Can the eggs be on the dog or just in the feces? She has had a few accidents in the house, do eggs live in carpet? any answers would be appreciated. Pet's info: Dog | Mastiff | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 4 days old | 53 lbs
