Is children's Gravol safe for my cat's car sickness if she won't take Cerenia?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

If my cat should refuse to take her prescribed Cerenia before we leave for a long car ride (she's dealt with nausea and hypersalivation), would it be okay to carry some children's liquid gravol to give her instead? If so, what dosage would you suggest?

Unfortunately, by law it is illegal for the experts at PetCoach to give the dose information for any drug, including OTC drugs, without seeing the animal in person first. That's because doing so requires a veterinary client patient relationship which cannot be achieved via an internet forum. In addition, the experts cannot say for certain if a specific drug is safe for your cat. You can speak to your vet to see if they think it's safe to give this to your cat, and they can tell you the dosage. I can give you a link to a video showing how to pill a cat, and you can practice doing it on your kitty with hard cat biscuits before you go on your trip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWlpsTh6ddk
