Dog mouth rash: Is hydrocortisone enough, or should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | 80 lbs

My 80 lbs lab mix has a rash on lower mouth and right jowls. I just cleaned with warm water and applied hydrocortisone for dogs. Please some advice.

Poor Cooper! Make sure he doesn't lick off the hydrocortisone, as it won't be good for him to ingest. Just keep an eye on the rash, and if it spreads or it isn't getting better, I would have him seen by a vet as he may need stronger drugs for it, such as oral steroids.
