My dog with kidney disease has diarrhea from ranitidine. Give on empty stomach?

dog diagnosed with advanced kidney disease yesterday 16 years old lab mix. Received fluids yesterday. put on sucralfate 1g tablet daily and ranitidine 150mg once daily 2 hours later. I gave sucralfate on empty stomach and 2 hours later ranitidine but with 2 slices of white bread Not knowing to give on empty stomach. 5-10 mins later he pooped and diahrea+ attempting to poop for 10 minutes. It's been 6 hours. wonder if he will be ok or more diahrea tomorrow if ranitidine given on empty stomach. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 16 years and 3 months old | 35 lbs

A side effect of ranitidine is diarrhea, but I would give it to Oreo tomorrow on an empty stomach. If it does give him diarrhea again, then I would give your vet a call to let them know you are seeing this side effects, and the vet will let you know if they want you to continue with the ranitidine or want to try a different drug for Oreo.
