My puppy has sores on her upper lip by her canine. What's the cause?

My 11 week old has a sore on each side of her upper lip by her canine what is causing that

It is difficult to say what might be causing the sores without seeing what they look like and where exactly they are located, but one possibility might be that the lower teeth are cutting into the upper lip due to the teeth being misaligned (malocclusion).     Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to see that Nova is having a problem. Those areas appear to be some type of ulceration of the lip areas. Hard to say what has caused this. Possibilities include infection/viral, trauma, inflammation, toxin or environmental exposure, nutritional problem, etc. If these areas persist or cause problems such as pain, decreased appetite, itching, or if they worsen I would advise having your veterinarian examine Nova. Your vet can examine her and come up with a sound treatment plan to get these areas to heal. Good luck with Nova and I hope these areas resolve soon.

Why is there a sore on my 3 month old puppy’s lip
Hello and welcome to Boop by Petco. Sores on the lip can be caused by many different factors, but most likely is she chewed on something that has caused a wound. Other possible causes are immune diseases that attach the junction between the lip and the haired skin, however this is very unlikely given her age and the localized region. It does look like the wound might be infected however, so getting it seen by a vet to see if antibiotics are required is a good idea. If it doesn't bother her, and she is eating/drinking ok, then you can try just keeping it clean with a salt-water solution, and monitor. If it looks better every day then keep monitoring, but if it isn't better after a couple days, or looks worse at all, then bring her to a vet right away. Do not apply any medications/creams, just keep it clean with salt-water. If she is pawing/scratching at it then an E-collar to prevent more trauma can help it heal, and if it is bothering her getting it seen by a vet is a good ide

My dog got a red sopt on his top lip sort of like a cold sore but has got bigher what is this
Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. Without seeing a picture of what you are describing it is difficult to say for sure what this could be. I suspect, due to Blue's age, that this could be a viral papilloma, histiocytoma or pimple-like growth. In all 3 cases, it should resolve on its own. It could be something other than these 3 possibilities. If the spot does not resolve or it worsens, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Blue to that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. My dog (8 months old) randomly got a sore on her lip. Not sure where it came from, and never happened before. She’s a mix, not sure exactly what breed. Is this normal?
I wouldn't say its normal, but don't be alarmed. It looks like maybe she rubbed it against something or got an abrasion somehow (maybe nosing in a bush in the yard, etc). I would give it a few days. If its not looking better after 3-5 days, take her to your vet. If its getting worse in the meantime or starts interfering with how she eats, or if she's lethargic or painful, etc, take her in sooner. Don't try to put anything on it, she will just lick it right off. Thanks for asking Boop by Petco!

Hello, I've just noticed on my 15 week old puppy two soars/blisters on the outside of his lip either side of his mouth
That lesion looks very inflamed. It’s possible it’s a reaction to something he chewed on but an infection is also possible. I recommend to have him examined by his veterinarian to rule out something more severe like a tooth root abscess. He may also get medication to help heal the lesion. Best of luck.

My dog has a sore on the outside of the bottom lip do you know what I can treat it with?
Unfortunately, sores around the mouth are different to treat because pets often lick the medication off. The sore may represent an area of inflammation, infection or possibly an autoimmune skin disease. Monitor the area for worsening and apply an E-collar to prevent scratching. If the sore fails to improve in the next 3-5 days, you should contact your veterinarian.

Hi there, my dog has a sore on her upper lip. Am I able to apply medicine on it or what is the best course of treatment for this? It is a flat sore and I believe she got it playing with other dogs at the park
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This could have been due to a traumatic injury while playing. I think though that it would be a good idea to have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. The main reason is making sure that there is no other traumatic injury present that needs to be addressed. Otherwise, at least on the picture it looks fairly superficial so you can plan on applying a thin film of triple antibiotic twice daily until you see your veterinarian. Good luck!

13.5 year old aussie has inflamed sores on her lips: upper side and upper front just below her nose. Doesn't affect her eating or mood. What could be the cause and how is it treated?
Causes include infection, inflammation, periodontal disease and possibly autoimmune disease. Keep an eye on her and if she is rubbing, place an e-collar (cone) on her to prevent further rubbing or trauma. Ideally, she should be physically examined by your veterinarian to diagnose the underlying cause. Infection can be treated with a course of antibiotics. PeriodontaI disease will need to be addressed with a complete dental cleaning. If necessary, your vet can biopsy the area to collect samples for pathology.

Hello, thank you for your question about Bear. Based on Bear's relatively young age and the photo that you have provided I would be suspicious that Bear is experiencing a mild bacterial or viral infection in this area. Puppies are often more susceptible to viruses such as the papilloma virus more than adult dogs, this virus typically forms cauliflower like growths in/around the mouth, but certain forms can be more mild and not lead to these signs. It is possible that Bear has a bacterial infection, these are usually fairly benign and self limiting. Another possibility is that Bear is experiencing sensitivity or an allergy to something in his environment leading to this lesion. Some dogs are very sensitive to certain types of food bowls or toys, and can develop these lesion secondary to this. I would recommend having Bear evaluated by your veterinarian so that they can examine the lesion and Bear's mouth. They can discuss the need for additional diagnostics such as an impress

My dog has a strange sore on her lip, any idea what it is or what to do about it?
Hi, and thanks for your question. This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any scratching (if any).
