Why is my male cat peeing blood and red particles? Should I go to ER?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Maine Coon | Male | neutered | 1 year and 6 months old

Keep in mind, Mo's favorite place to urinate is in the tub since he is a 17 pound Maine coon and massive. The other night in the tub mo peed the tiniset amount of blood, like a drop. The vet was unable to get a sample the next morning since he was empty again. Last night he peed what looked like 100 ant head sized dark red balls in the tub with his urine. He loves water, and his kidneys passed any tests for infections or problems. Should I take him to e.r.? What could it be?

It's probably due to a bladder inflammation, it's very common in cats and is usually related to some sort of stress. it is a big problem especially in male cats, i strongly recommend taking him to the ER as he is in danger of getting blocked, which will be life threatening.
