My unspayed senior dog has a pinkish red nipple lump. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 9 years and 8 months old | 55 lbs

My dog has a hard, pinkish red blister looking lump on her nipple. She is a female lab mix and has had puppies in the past. She is not spayed and is around 10 years old. Should this be concerning?

Given that Bear is an older, intact female, it would be prudent to have her examined by your veterinarian. The vet can perform a simple fine needle aspirate to collect a sample for pathology. The lump may be a mass (benign or malignant) or it could be local irritation/infection.
