My dog has red eyes, trouble breathing, and is very lethargic.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 8 months old | 40 lbs

My dogs eyes are very red and has drainage coming from them, she's also very lethargic and acting very weak. She has only ate wet food she won't eat her dry food she has been drinking water and going to the bathroom fine but just isn't acting like herself and looks very sick. We noticed she sounds like she js wheezing and having a difficult time breathing. She's also not barking which is very rare for her. Please any advise?

Poor Allie!! It sounds like she has a respiratory infection and an eye infection. She does have to see a vet immediately. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem is considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Having difficulty breathing is also something that needs to be examined by a vet right away. The vet can diagnose her symptoms and can give her medication for them. Please take Allie into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see her now.
