My dog keeps licking a red sore between her toes. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | English Cocker Spaniel | Female | spayed | 35 lbs

My cocker spaniel who is 8 yrs old has a red sore in between her from toes on one foot. She is constantly licking it. My vet said it could be a cyst and gave antibiotics about a month ago. It seemed to clear up but is now back. What is the best thing we should do please?

It's more likely to be either an allergy or a foreign body, if a foreign body (usually a grass seed) is suspected it will need to be removed surgically, if an allergy is suspected she will need allergy meds.
