Hi. My dog ate a small amount of dark chokolate she ways 8,9 kg. And has been to veterinary. She has shown some symptoms of thirst. And spasm. The whole thing could have been stopped with a little charcoal wich i could have given her. But i had no car and called the vet instead. My question is can i still take her to veterinary to get some help. My inscurance wasnt sign until she had eaten chocolate and the veterinary costs will be high. The blood sample veterinary took showed kidney affected. M

Poor thing! I would still take her in for care as IV fluids would be very helpful for the neurological signs and also to support the kidneys. At this stage everything is absorbed and in the bloodstream so treatment needs to be focused on diuresis.
