Dog has pus bumps, fever, sick in Michigan. Could it be Valley Fever?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Our little mixed breed dog. Has several bumps that burst with pus like fluid, fever, lethargic sick. Took to local vet did blood came back good. Did culture nothing from that didn't grow anything. Vet said in his entire career never seen anything like it. Was doing my own research was wondering- do I think our dog may have contracted Valley Fever? Even though we live in Northern Michigan please any advice or help thank you

That would be unusual for him to have Valley Fever. Your vet could biopsy the lesions to help diagnose the problem. If your vet can not diagnose than you could take your dog to a veterinary dermatologist to help determine the exact cause. Also, if he has not been on an antibiotic than your vet could try an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory and see if that helps. Hope he feels better soon!
