Dog's eye swollen, discharging after extractions. What's next?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Rottweiler | Female | spayed | 7 years and 1 month old | 61.4 lbs

I've taken my dog to the vet 4 times in the past 2 months. They've extracted 19 teeth and put her on abx but the swelling in her eye and discharge continue. They performed an X-ray and found no tumor. I don't know what else to do.

You may want to ask about referral to a specialist. Even though an x-ray was normal it can be very difficult to interpret x-rays of the skull, and a CT scan can give a lot more information. An internal medicine specialist would be able to review Rosie's records and recommend additional tests after an examination.
