My 11-month dog hasn't had shots. Are puppy and adult vaccines same?

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Female | unspayed | 10 months and 17 days old | 53 lbs

My dog is 11 months old and hasnt had any shots. Is it best to get the dog shots or should i just go about getting both puppy and dog shots atbher age?

There isn't any difference between the shots a dog gets as a puppy and as an adult. I would have Ruby taken into the vet as soon as possible to get her first series of shots, which should include rabies, parvo, distemper, hepatitis, and parainfluenza. She will then need a booster of these shots four weeks later to incur immunity.

    Puppy vaccination protocol is performed to avoid the interaction with immunity coming from the mother. You can vaccinate him once as every other normal dog. Vaccinations will be against Distemper, Adenovirus, Leptospira, Herpesvirus, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza virus and Rabies. If you don't have proof of vaccination, then I would just assume that Ruby is not vaccinated, and get her started right away. Since she is already 5 months old, she will likely only need 2 distemper/parvo vaccinations in addition to rabies to get her up date. A vet will be able to discuss other recommended vaccinations based on your lifestyle and location.

I just bought a dog today was told she is 9 months old and never had any shots. What shots do I need to get her
You should book a vet appointment as soon as you can for a routine check up and vaccinations and de worming. Your vet can help you with any vaccines you need for your area but typically the first/ basic vaccine is a combined coverage for 4-5 typical and common diseases and is pretty standard. Rabies is usually recommended and given as a separate injection (during the same appointment). You will need to take your dog for a second appointment for some follow up boosters (you vet will tell you when, usually a couple weeks to a month later). Until these vaccines have been administered and a couple weeks have passed before your dog is provided with full immunity, it is best to avoid public places where other dogs frequent or contact with other dogs to prevent infection of illness.

Hello my name is Leia, I will have my puppy in about a week and a half. What will be the first shots she will need? She will be around 9 weeks old.
Ruby is a cutie pie. I recommend to start her with a distemper/parvo and bordetella vaccine at 9 weeks. She should receive two more sets of shots after that. Another set at 12 weeks and then a last set at 15-16 weeks old. During these other two sets she should receive another bordetella, 2 more distemper/parvo vaccines and a rabies vaccine. Depending on your location, your vet may recommend some other core vaccines and may recommend to start her on flea and heartworm prevention. I hope this helps!

hello - I have an 8-yr old Shih Tzu/Poodle that has not had any shots. This is the first time we have done this with one of our dogs - I don't know why, but I want to have her "prepped" for the late stages in her life...What shots would be necessary
Hello! For starters, she should have "core" vaccines - DAPP and Rabies. DAPP (distemper/parvo) - Since she is an adult, a single DAPP vaccine will be sufficient for at least 1 year. After 1 year, your vet may recommend checking titers ( a blood test to check for immunity) rather than re-vaccinating after only 1 year. Or, your vet may feel comfortable with considering that single vaccine a 3 year vaccine, or may recommend a booster after 1 year. Rabies- a 1 year Rabies should be given. Another rabies vaccine needs to be given after 1 year..... that 2nd rabies vaccine can be a 3 year vaccine. Beyond that, talk to your vet. Further vaccination recommendations are based on what is of greatest concern in your area, and on what her lifestyle is like. How many series of vaccinations does puppies need mine are already 6 months old
Hi there. If your pups are six months old and have never had vaccines, they will need a DAPP vaccine (for distemper, adenovirus, parvovirus, and parainfluenza) now, and a booster in 3-4 weeks. They will also need a rabies vaccine. Other vaccinations such as Lyme disease, leptospirosis, or Bordetella (kennel cough) may also be needed depending on what is common in your area and your dog's risk of exposure - your veterinarian should be able to talk more with you about this to decide if any additional vaccines are needed.

Hazel is beautiful! Thank you for including a picture. The American Animal Hospital Association recommends that all dogs are vaccinated with a distemper/parvo combination as well as a Rabies vaccination. I am attaching a link to their recommendation below. https://www.aaha.org/guidelines/canine_vaccination_guidelines/practice_vaccination.aspx The top 2 are considered "core" vaccinations that all dogs should have, and they have details on how often vaccination is recommended. The "noncore" vaccinations are only recommended for dogs that are at risk for certain diseases, so I would recommend speaking to your veterinarian about Hazel's risk factors for those diseases. Is the 5way vac for puppies 8 weeks the same vac used for annual in adults
Yes, the distemper/parvo (DHPP) combination vaccinations that we use in puppies are the same as those we use in adults, but some of the ingredients in some of the combination vaccinations are not given until the puppies are older. I would recommend speaking to your veterinarian about which viruses should be included in puppies vaccinations, but they are generally canine distemper, infectious hepatitis, parainfluenza and parvovirus. Corona virus may or may not be recommended and Leptospirosis should not be given until a puppy is older. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Hey I only want to give my puppy 4 basic shots , RABBIES, distempered, parvovirus and hepatitis’s is it possible to get it all at once ?
Hello. Depending on your state regulations, Rabies vaccines cannot be given until usually 14-16 weeks of age. However, your young puppy should get a series of distemper/ hepatitis/parvovirus vaccines in order to acquire the proper immunity. You should begin now and repeat that vaccination every 3 weeks for a series of 3 vaccines and then have the rabies done at the appropriate age.

I would like to known if my dog got her first st of shots at 1 years what would be her next set of shot's what age
If she completed her initial vaccines as a puppy, she should just need boosters this year. Those would be her DA2PP (distemper/parvovirus combination), a rabies vaccine and a Bordatella vaccine (if she boards or gets groomed). Lifestyle vaccines include Leptospirosis, Canine flu and Lyme disease. If she got these last year, she needs them boosted. If not, each one is a series of 2 injections spaced 4 weeks apart. Lifestyle vaccines are given based on risk of exposure.
